Same, I love Buell the same.

The thing is, Harley wanted them as gateway drugs to Harleys. More like gateway drugs to other sportbikes :)

I'm not what you would consider a bike person but I have to say that the Ducati 1999 Superleggera is probably one of the most beautiful bikes I have ever seen.

YUM! Let me know how that goes, if I miss the post shoot me an email at hoonigan34@gmail. I'd love to hear more details. Have you seen any more that you liked?

I want to go test ride on of these M109R:

Kinja'd!!!

I want to buy one for my dad, since they can't get them in Mexico. But something about it keeps growing on me. Something about this model of the Boulevard is just so...nummy. Maybe the fact that it has a 1.7 Liter engine... or the roar it makes.

Yeah, I'll hopefully be able to get approval from the Lady Friend and make sure that everything is in good order with the bike. I have been eyeing a couple more Triumph bikes though. On the more budget oriented side, I've been eyeing this 01 Sprint. It's been dropped. Off a trailer though. I've also got a Triumph dealer, about 20 minutes from me. Even more reason to convince the lady friend.

http://easternshore.craigslist.org/mcy/4434311857…

Then, I took a look at this one, Which is slightly cheaper but there is no indication if he's dropped it or not. The description is vague in general.

That M109R looks so awesome. I'll bet it sounds awesome also.

I spectated Rolling Thunder last year, and I picked a couple of those out of the crowd.

I too agree that it's one of the most beautiful bikes ever made. It's got elegant lines, and a great color scheme.

But for $65,000. Not in my lifetime :)

Yeah, the price is somewhat scary.

Most Duc bikes do seem to be quite pricey though. The 1199 Panigale R being the second most expensive at $30,995 and the Monster 696 being the cheapest at $9,295

The Blast isn't much to get excited about... It's anemic and really a beginner bike... The XB line, however, is madness ! A friend had an XB9S and it was a hoot to ride... The ergonomics and suspension geometry made it feel like a trials bike compared to my VFR. I have never ridden an XB12 model, but I am sure the extra torque is 'entertaining'.

Yeah, I agree that the Blast isn't anything particularly special. I've just got a thing with Buell styling though. I like the Lightning considerably though, it's too bad that Harley cut Buell out.

Kinja'd!!!1

Yeah, $19K is a lot of clams for a motorcycle, but EBR is basically a (re)startup... The cost of tooling and capital investments amortized over lower volume leads to higher unit prices.

I do feel that it's worth it to a Buell enthusiast with money to spend. I'd love for Buell to come back as an independent company, freed from Harley.

Nice man! That Sprint is pretty but WAY overpriced. I got my bike which was newer for 2k flat, and that included a helmet. Mine was a 2004. So if you want to go after that one, make sure they understand they are asking for way too much. Because of the age of it, I bet you will need to spend at least 1k in repairs, which still leaves you in a much smaller cost bracket but it requires you to work on it and learn Triumph quirks the worst way possible, when they break lol.

The second 675 is not bad, a brief description could mean he is being asked to let it go, but doesn't want to. Or doesn't know much about it. The fairing on the right seems to have some blemish below the 675 on the E from triple. It could be a crack, faded paint, or just bad picture. I'd talk to the owner and see whats up, if they don't know much I'm sure you can drop 1k off the price by naming off parts that always need to be replaced.

What is the Rolling Thunder? I GIS'd but all I get is the Hot Wheels jet truck lol. Shows my age.

Yeah, the Sprint did seem rather expensive. Especially for an older bike that was thrown off a trailer. Repairs would also be a concern, especially on an older bike. Hope that Lucas wasn't around to mess the electronics up :/

I did notice that the yellow 06 was farther away than I originally anticipated. It's 2-3 hours away from where I live, which is a long haul, But I'm still interested in it. That yellow is captivating me.

For the second one, the description is fairly vague. I'd like to give him a call, and get a little more information on the bike. Thanks for pointing out those scratches on the fairing though.

Oh, Rolling Thunder is a Motorcycle Rally held annually in Dc during Memorial day Weekend. There's around 900,000 bikes and spectators. Mainly veterans, riding cruisers. But every once and while there's some Street fighters, and sportbikes in the mix. It's a great event.

You mentioned you have a Triumph dealer nearby, don't sweat the repairs. I taught myself how to do the repairs. My biggest problem (and seriously inconvenient) was that no one had the parts for it. So if something went wrong, that was a 2+ week delay for one part.

I only chose that yellow one since you had used that location's CL. If there is a closer one let me know so I can search there instead. General rule tho, if the trip is more than 100 miles make sure you get a LOT of information before you make the first trip. But I'm sure you already know that since it doesn't only apply to bikes.

You can get a lot for 2k, so don't let me make it seem like all the good things are upwards of 4k. That was just what I found right on that moment. It took me 6 months of searching for the perfect bike, but it was worth every minute of wait.

Holy crap that sounds cool. I bet that was one long parade/rally. And loud..!

Yeah, There is a Triumph dealership very close to me in Mananas. I've never passed it, but I'll try to soon. While I'm there I'll take a Look-See if they carry extra parts in stock, or if they have to be ordered.

I've used both Eastern Shore, and Washington Dc Craigslist. The Eastern Shore CL has more interesting stuff. The Dc Craigslist seems to have more broken stuff, Haha. I'd only make a far trek if I'm absolutely sure that the bikes the one, and if I've talked to the owner in detail. When searching, I always threaten that if the purchase isn't as described that the seller will have to pay for my gas money for the trip home.

But I'm with you that I've got to find the perfect bike. I want something that will last me many happy miles, preferably without combustion occurring/being stolen. Paranoid security is my specialty.

Well, and with due reason. That is why I no longer ride. Here's my short story:

Elizabeth (Since the bike is a Brit, and the queen's name was... well you get where I'm going) was stolen from me after two months of rebuilding her from scratch. The day I got the sprockets and new chain on there I had to go to work, so I took my car naturally. I drove around the bend (literally takes one minute driving to get there)to buy a case of water for the store, and by the time I made it back: GONE. In the 5 minutes it took me to get a case of water from around the bend they stole my motorcycle after I had just dumped 1k into it. It had a lock, the keys weren't in and it was on a stand. How they got it is way beyond me. But they never got it. TWO FUCKING TRIUMPH DAYTONAS 600 IN TUCSON AND THEY COULDNT FIND ONE.... so needless to say I was pissed. So two months later I bought a house after some more shit happened there.

At any rate, just make sure you take the time. To me, its like finding a gf, you have to make sure she's the one. Sure you can replace it later, but its a pain :p

Oh man. I'm really sorry to hear that. There's a special place in hell reserved for the party responsible for that.

I've got a house, but I don't have a functional garage currently. I keep the bike as far back as possible from the street, and hope that nobody manages to get to it. Disc locks and all. I'm thinking for long term storage, I'd either bring it inside my house, and remove the fuel tank. Or stick it inside some sort of plywood cage.

Yeah it was a short lived experience. But I am glad it happened. I am alive, and have a house. I call that a win win. And hell? Nah. I got power tools and a lot of knowledge about pressure points, joints, and other means of harm haha >:D

If you have a backyard that is accessible from the front I would also look into that route. I had the disc lock too. My guess is they just lifted the front wheel and pushed it onto a truck. So I would just remember that. Especially with rare bikes like the Triumphs. They are seriously unique and most people will never know what it is. So you will get some eyes, which is good and bad. It sounds like you have it all figured out tho, which is awesome. I assume you got Motorcycle license already and all needed goodies like jacket, gloves, etc?

Kinja'd!!! jkm7680 > Lekker

Kinja'd!!!0

Haha, Pressure points come in handy.

I've got my M designation, the proper gear and the Gw :)

No idea why they never caught the thief though. They might have just gone on a joy ride, and dumped it if parts weren't showing up on Craigslist. Using a skateboard-like system is a way that some bikes are stolen. Even if the discs are locked, they can just pick the bike up, and stick it on a Dolly like thing and put in a truck or van.

Yeah, I love the looks of Ducati bikes. But being a Volkswagen auto group product, it comes with Vw maintainance :)

You could always get it lowered, or a low seat (I think those exist)

Kinja'd!!! yamahog > jkm7680
04/23/2014 at 12:09

Kinja'd!!!0

True, but I don't want to wreck the handling on something I'd want to take to track days. I don't know if Ducati does low seats, but I had to chop some foam off my Yamaha (and raise the forks, and crank the preload up, and get new boots, lol) and what was lost in seat height was made up for in butthurt :P

Yeah, I wouldn't want to give that up either. You can probably get some good resale value for those mods, very desirable. Luckily I'm 6'3 and can't even fit on a Grom :)
